The increasing use of location-based social networks and the huge generation of social geo-located data from mobile sensing devices have fueled an urgent need of understanding and analysing the interplay between geographic information science and social computing in order to design new approaches for collecting, representing, understanding, managing, learning, interacting, and reasoning about social geographic information. New challenges and perspective are open if we consider how data collected and analysed can be used for services such as transportation and urban planning. This webinar is dedicated to explore how social geographic information can be used for understanding human mobility dynamics. Two international experts, Dr. Ludovico Boratto from University of Cagliari and Prof. Zhenlong Li from University of South Carolina, will outline current trends, research challenges and opportunities created by the use of social media data for analyzing people mobility in urban areas and for measuring spatial social interactions. Date: 9 July 2021 Time: 3:00pm CEST | 9:00am EDT | 9:00pm CST Asia Webinar ID: 856 3693 7260 Webinar Secretariat: ijgi.webinar@mdpi.com

The TASCMAR project is coming to an end! TASCMAR is a collaborative research project funded under the EU Horizon 2020 Program and its results will be presented at the Final Conference, to be held in Paris, on the next 12 of September. From exploring the possibility for new medical drugs without harmful side effects, nutraceuticals (e.g. dietary supplements) and cosmetic products to developing technologies for bioremediation, TASCMAR has investigated the potential of the underutilized mesophotic zone of the ocean (between 30 and 100 meters depth), developing innovative approaches for the cultivation and extraction of marine invertebrates and symbionts from lab to pilot-scale. The project will be closely monitored for its socio-economic and environmental impacts so as to ensure sustainability while promoting economic growth. Attending the Final Conference, you will have the chance to learn about the extraordinary project achievements and the on-going industrial valorizations concerned. TASCMAR FINAL CONFERENCE Thursday, 12 September 2019 Saint James Albany, Paris 202 Rue De Rivoli, Paris, 75001, France Registration: 8.30 Closing: 18.00

The workshop “Enhancing ethics and economics in aquaculture using solutions based on IoT and digital automation” has the mission to start the analysis of the potential connections between marine RRI knowledge and digital automation technologies applied by the industry4.0 processes. Its main scope is to build a view to co-constructing a common understanding of opportunities for the adoption of RRI approach in the context of shared industry-food-marine R&D and policies. Aquaculture is the world’s fastest growing food industry and it has the responsibility to face the growing global population feeding. However, it entails diseases and marine pollution. Developing innovative and sustainable food sources is a key priority for Europe and a key-issue in the marine sector with a huge social impact. The 4.0 approach is started to being applied in large scale to the marine sector: IoT, blockchain and big data technologies, help improve security, fish health status, food quality and traceability and environmental safety. What about overall economy, the level of access to food, the processes decreasing the harmful chemicals in the water, and what about matching with other kind of agro-food productions? This is a challenge and we’re convinced it should be approached by including elements and methods of Responsible Research and Innovation, ensuring the fulfilment of the needs and expectations of society. You are invited to support us with your knowledge, experience and perspectives, to outline some guidelines of mutual research between the marine and the Industry 4.0 sectors.
