FROM
TO
Timezone: GMT+02:00

Description:The workshop will bring together stakeholders and representatives from the wider shipping industry, scientists, engineers and technology developers, policy makers, national authorities, civil society organisations and citizens. It is aimed at exchanging knowledge and expectations (especially now that the BWM Convention came into force) and proposing a roadmap of recommendations based on Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) dimensions in response to triggering questions: - How effective is the current legal framework in mitigating the environmental problems associated with the ballast water discharge? Drawbacks, gaps, achievements… - How efficient are the existing BWMS? What are the main constraints and challenges observed (during installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance, etc.)? - Considering the transport of alien species through ballast waters, which Responsible Research and Innovation actions are needed to make maritime transport sustainable while safeguarding the marine environment?
