Alessia Cariani has robust expertise in the field of genetics and genomics, from molecular taxonomy to the assessment of the evolutionary and environmental drivers of population structure and biodiversity in marine species (with elasmobranchs as a focus group). Analyses of the spatial and temporal patterns of genetic variability are exploited in fishery resources management context, with specific application to the conservation of elasmobranchs. Alessia Cariani is currently Project Manager of the Interreg V-A Italy - Croatia funded project "PRIZEFISH - Piloting of eco-innovative fishery supplychains to market added-value Adriatic fish products” https://www.italy-croatia.eu/web/prizefish in which responsible fishery action plans are implemented and their valorization through ecolabel certification is assessed and quantified
